History of the Dalrymple Companies
In 1936, Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting, the original company, was incorporated and a concrete plant was erected to serve the Elmira area. The company was one of the first in New York State to provide customers with ready-mix concrete delivered to the job site by truck. Following World War II and through the 1950's, the construction business dramatically expanded and the company construction division grew into a multi-state operation that offered a wide variety of civil construction services. Today Chemung Contracting Corp., the construction company in the group, completes major highway, bridge, airport and dam projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The construction materials companies includes the following wholly owned subsidiaries: Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting Co. Inc., which serves the Elmira, NY, area; Seneca Stone Corp., which serves the Seneca Falls area in Upstate New York; and Cedar Mountain Stone which serves the Culpeper and Central Virginia market. These companies mine, crush and sell state-approved aggregates. They also manufacture hot mix asphalt at each stone source location and at numerous distribution points associated with each main plant. |
